Muhurtham Blouse Checklist: 10 Things to Decide

25 Oct 2026 · 5 min read · By Sanmi Creation

Your muhurtham blouse will be in every photograph from the most important hour of your wedding. Deciding these ten things early makes the whole process calm — and the result far better.

1. The saree comes first

Choose your muhurtham saree before you design the blouse. The body colour, border and zari tone decide everything else — from thread colours to how heavy the Aari should be.

2. Matching or contrast?

A matching blouse (same as the saree body) looks classic and lets the Aari stand out. A contrast blouse in the border colour looks modern. Both work — pick what suits your saree.

3. Neckline vs. jewellery

Heavy necklaces and long haarams sit best on round or U necklines, with the Aari placed a little lower so it is not hidden. Bring photos of your jewellery to the design discussion.

4. Sleeve length

Elbow sleeves are the most popular for muhurtham — they show off Aari work and stay comfortable through long rituals. Full sleeves look regal but need careful fitting.

5. Back neck design

Guests and photographers will see your back for much of the ceremony. A deep U, keyhole or dori back with latkans adds a lot. See our back neck designs.

6. How heavy should the Aari be?

Bridal blouses usually carry dense Aari on the yoke and sleeves, with lighter work on the body. Very heavy work everywhere can feel stiff — balance is the secret.

7. Zari tone

Antique gold suits traditional Kanjeevarams; bright gold and rose gold suit pastel and tissue sarees. Your zari should match the saree border, not fight it.

8. Hooks, padding and lining

Decide front or back hooks, light padding, and a soft lining. Deep back designs usually need front hooks. These small choices decide how comfortable you feel all day.

9. Trial fittings

Plan at least one trial fitting and one final fitting. Wedding-day weight changes are normal — a final fitting a week before handles them.

10. Book early

Bridal Aari takes time. Book about 4–6 weeks before the wedding, and earlier in peak season. Our event planner shows your last safe booking date.
